Pumping stations

Designing and new and upgraded water pumping facilities requires knowing the right type of system for the situation, including horizontal centrifugal, vertical turbine, can pumps, and Archimedes screw pumps.

Mott MacDonald is known for its hydraulics expertise and knowledge of all types of potable and stormwater pumping facilities. We have a particular strength in the rehabilitation and upgrading of existing pumping facilities to meet new flow or hydraulic conditions.

Mott MacDonald has designed potable water booster stations with capacities up to 200 million gallons per day, and stormwater stations with capacities up to 1,000 cubic feet per second.

Our pump station services include these:

  • Facilities assessment
  • Hydraulic analysis
  • Preliminary/final design
  • Transient analysis and surge suppression design
  • Pump controls system design
  • Improvements to energy efficiency
  • Ancillary services (structural, architectural, instrumentation & controls, electrical, and heating & ventilation)
